Help the Whitmill Family:

Last week, after battling some chest pains and constant shortness of breath, Carl Whitmill went to the hospital to check in on the source of the pain. After several tests, he was immediately admitted; doctors determined the source of the pain were several critical blocked arteries of the heart. Afterwards, Dr. Grant, his cardiologist, determined the situation was dire and must be acted upon immediately.

The solution: Multiple bypass open heart surgery within the week.

Despite a clean bill of health and active lifestyle, this issue had been brewing. Had it not been for his impromptu check-up, the doctors informed us that any one of these blockages (even one called a “Widow Maker”) could’ve caused a severe heart attack or worse at any time.

On Monday, August 11th, he underwent a four-hour surgery, and it went well. However, even under these circumstances, the road to recovery has left Carl debilitated and taxed. He will not be able to drive or lift more than 10 pounds for 4 to 6 weeks. Additionally, the doctors have insisted he cannot go back to work for two full months.

His profession as a self-employed home maintenance man requires climbing on ladders, carrying tools, plumbing, lifting and moving appliances, and more- all things well out of the realm of ‘safe activities’ during his rehabilitation.

Because of the severity of this unexpected operation and the length of time required to recover properly, Carl has been left without a financial safety net. He can’t work without endangering his health, and can’t rest without worrying about his financial affairs. Please help our family allow Carl to rest without worry.

He has worked so hard his entire life to provide so much to both his family and his local community.
