Hello Friends,
We are deeply saddened at the loss of my mother, Beverly Swafford. After spending 12 days in intensive care at the Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Beverly Dean Swafford passed away at 5:38 p.m. on Friday, September 3 from the ravages of Covid at the age of 70.
Beverly retired from nursing many years ago yet she continued to care for people in day-to-day life. During the past decade, she provided employment, ran food drives, and made Christmas happen for her community while growing closer with Corbin in their business. She has had several hobbies during her life such as collecting Christmas decorations and bird watching. Most recently, she loved keeping a koi pond, tending African violets, and studied butterflies.
She has been our champion, cheering my brother and I on! Many of you will remember her voice calling out over the softball fields during our high school years and her hospitality at our family home. To this day, there is a bottle of pickled okra in the pantry ready for a special guest. Yep, that is you Eric!
Carl & Beverly lived a life of adventure! They never sat still, driving to see a new butterfly or visiting a familiar camping spot. Without his life partner, Dad is experiencing loneliness. We would like to help him through this difficult time by enabling him to travel. Previous to Beverly's passing, Dad wanted to take a birding trip to South America, paddle in the Boundary Waters, and visit his grandchildren. We would appreciate your monetary support to make this happen in lieu of flowers.
The family plans to hold a memorial in celebration of Beverly, the rock and driving force of our family. More information to follow.
Carl has requested friends to share stories and memories of Beverly so he can in turn share them with his grandkids.
Your kindness is much appreciated.
Love, The SWAFFORD Family
