Support Carissa's Recovery and Her Family

Hello, my name is Trista. I appreciate all who take the time to read this. I created this gofundme on behalf of my sister, Carissa.

Carissa started having complications after a colonoscopy and ended up going to the ER May 8th, where an emergency surgery was performed. They opened her up to find part of her bowels perforated filling her insides with 40 liters of bile, fecal matter and pus. Due to that incident she became septic and they had to remove part of her colon and intestines, therefore placing her with a temporary colostomy bag and 2 drains on each side of her stomach. Carissa spent 18 days in the hospital and 9 of those days in ICU. The surgeon called her a miracle, they don’t see many people make it through what she did. We are extremely grateful to be where we are and to be able to continue on this journey.

That being said, it has been challenging. Carissa is a single mom of 3 boys and will have to be off of work for many months ahead. Our family has been traveling back and forth helping with Carissa and the boys.

Any money donated will go straight to Carissa covering medical expenses, bills, groceries and helping take care of needs for her boys as we navigate through this new journey.
