Cari is my cousin, and she has always been a source of light and support in my life. As a beloved nurse and a devoted mother of three, Cari has spent her life caring for others—her patients, her family, and her friends. Just last week, Cari received the devastating news that she has breast cancer. Before she could even begin to process this, she was diagnosed with endometrial cancer as well. The road ahead is daunting: Cari will undergo a hysterectomy, a mastectomy, and will need both radiation and chemotherapy. Surgery will be scheduled as soon as possible, likely taking her away from her job in the coming week.

While Cari is incredibly strong, the reality is that her journey will be long and challenging. Her medical leave will provide only partial income, and the financial strain of medical co-pays, housing costs, meals, and daily living expenses is overwhelming. Cari has always been the one to offer help and kindness to others, but now she and her children need our support more than ever.
