For the past three years, our incredible friend and colleague, Carey, has been navigating the challenges of endometrial cancer. As she prepares to celebrate her 50th birthday on December 13, we are reminded of how much light she has brought into the world and how deeply she is cherished by everyone who knows her.
And if you know Carey, you know this GoFundMe is way outside her comfort zone. She has always been the one giving support, not asking for it, which makes this an especially meaningful moment for all of us to show up for her.
Let’s honor Carey’s 50th birthday in a way that truly reflects her spirit and surrounds her with extra care at a critical time.
Why We Are Raising Funds
Your contribution will support Carey with anything she needs on this journey, from everyday expenses, pain relief, medical bills, or practical supports that ease daily life. This financial breathing room will allow her to focus on her well-being with less strain.
Any amount, large or small, will lift a burden and remind Carey how loved she is. Thank you for your generosity, your compassion, and your support.

More About Carey
Carey has spent her entire career lifting others up. A social worker by training, she has devoted her life to people living on the margins, working in nonprofits such as Daily Work and the Jeremiah Program, where she championed dignity, equity, and hope.
As an associate professor of social work in St. Paul, Minnesota, she has mentored hundreds of aspiring social workers; shaping their thinking, nurturing their confidence, and preparing them to be the thoughtful, person-centered practitioners our communities need. Her influence will ripple for generations.
At Daily Work, Carey was a colleague everyone counted on. Her leadership played a pivotal role in Daily Work’s growth and impact, leaving a lasting imprint on our culture and the people we serve.
Even through cancer treatment and unimaginable challenges, Carey has continued to show remarkable resilience. Her good spirits, gentle humor, and care for others have remained constant. She has given so much of herself to the world. Now we have an opportunity to surround her with the same care she has offered so freely.
