Support Cara Curcio's Fight Against Melanoma

Cara Curcio is a treasured mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend who is fighting a recurrence of melanoma.

We would love to rally the support of her community and help to lighten the added burdens that come with this kind of journey.

Cara was initially diagnosed with melanoma in Sept of 2021 and had surgery to remove what was thought to be contained cancer cells. In May of 2022 it was determined the cancer had spread, and Cara was now diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma. She went through frequent rounds of immunotherapy at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. In July of 2023 she was deemed in remission with no active cancer cells detected. In December of 2024, Cara found out that the cancer had returned - this time presenting as a tumor in her brain.

After several new rounds of immunotherapy these last two months, imaging showed that the tumor was not responding and had instead grown.

Cara has been scheduled for neurosurgery this week to remove the tumor. She will go through follow up radiation and continued immunotherapy.

In text over these last several days, Cara wrote of herself - "I am a fighter." And all that know her, know that is absolutely true. Cara has met each of these medical challenges with steadfast determination and strength. She is a rock for her family, even through these complications.

But that doesn't mean that what she's carrying isn't heavy. It is. And as her community, as the people lucky enough to say we know and love her, we're hoping to do what we can do lighten the load.
