Support Captain's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Hello. We’re the Warricks.
Our 2-year-old Great Dane, Captain, has unfortunately undergone some severe health/medical complications. On Thursday, April 10, we took him to Cheat Lake Animal Hospital. They decided to hospitalize him immediately and found out within hours that he was actually septic.
Captain’s G.I. tract had ulcers, and one of them penetrated a hole, causing his tract to leak into his abdomen, causing the sepsis.
They rushed him into surgery immediately.
Captain pulled through and lasted throughout the night of April 10th into today. We got to visit him today, April 11th, and we have a very long road to recovery if he can heal himself properly.
We are asking for donations because we have been quoted around $6-7.5 thousand dollars, and we’re still not in the clear, with how his outcome will be.
Captain is loved by so many friends & family, and he’s such a gentle soul.
Captain Jack is our entire heart & life. He’s a family boy for sure. When he’s well and healthy, he loves to be outside, chasing turkeys, boating, pup cups, car rides, and being anywhere his Mom & Dad are.
Any donations are welcome, and intensely appreciated with our entire situation.
We just want our gentle giant home, and healthy.
Just a small update on April 14.
Captain is now home & he is resting. This has been such a huge adjustment with all three of us. We are expected to empty his drain tube every few hours, 9 different medications throughout the day, sometimes twice a day, and maneuvering with the drain tube in him.
The vet said Captain does have Edema, and that should go away with time & activity.
Right now it’s getting everyone on a schedule, and as much rest as we can get.
We are not out of the woods yet, as Captain’s GI Tract still needs to heal, and we have many more vet appointments to attend.
All that matters right now is that our Captain is finally, home.
