Captain James Mellor has spent his life serving others, and now he needs us. For more than 20 years, James has dedicated himself to the fire service—beginning with Crew 7 out of San Luis Obispo Cal Poly, continuing with the Los Padres Hotshots, and eventually serving with Santa Barbara County Fire, where he proudly serves today as a Captain. He has always answered the call with strength, humility, and heart.
Recently, James suffered a stroke and will be out of work as he undergoes treatment and rehabilitation.
As he focuses on healing, the financial and emotional strain on him and his wife, Julie, continues to grow.
Anyone who knows James knows he would do absolutely anything for anyone, at any time. He is the kind of man who has consistently put the needs of others before his own, leading by example and setting the standard for what it means to serve with integrity, strength, and compassion. Over the years, he has helped shape and mentor countless firefighters, leaving a lasting impact on those who have had the privilege to work alongside him. James isn’t just respected—he is deeply admired and looked up to as a true leader and a guiding light to so many.
Now it’s our turn to show up for him. Your support will help ease the burden of medical expenses, lost income, and ongoing recovery costs as James works tirelessly to regain his strength.
Every donation, prayer, and share means more than words can express. Let’s rally around James and Julie the way James has always rallied around all of us.
