Support Captain Earl Mathis' Stroke Recovery

Donation protected
Hi, I am Elizabeth,

I’m raising funds for my father, Captain Earl F. Mathis, a proud U.S. Army Veteran and retired CMPD Police Captain, who suffered a massive stroke on April 28, 2023—just 10 days after the passing of his beloved mother.

At 75 years old, my father now lives with complete paralysis on the left side of his body and is unable to care for himself. Once a fiercely independent man who served his country and his community for over 30 years, he now requires 24/7skilled nursing care, transportation, and full assistance with daily living.

A Life of Service and Dedication

• Captain in the U.S. Army

• 2 tours in the Vietnam War

• 2x Bronze Star Recipient

• 28 years in the Army Reserve

• 30-year career with CMPD (including SWAT, Police Academy Commandant, Duty Captain)

He gave his time, his strength, and his heart in service to others. Now, he’s unable to walk, drive, or even move independently. Memory loss, mood swings, and emotional distress have added new layers of pain to our family’s journey.

What the Funds Will Help With

Due to a delay in veterans’ benefits and pending Medicaid approval, his care is being paid for entirely out-of-pocket. Unfortunately, his retirement savings have been depleted, and we are reaching a breaking point.

Your donation will help us cover:

• 24/7 Nursing Home Care

• Medical Expenses & Medications

• Groceries & Basic Needs

• Transportation to Appointments

• Housing Assistance

We are hoping to raise at least $30,000 to help meet immediate and ongoing needs.

Why This Means So Much

My dad has always been the strong one—for us and for so many others. He volunteered with St. Jude and other nonprofits, never asking for anything in return. Seeing him like this has been heartbreaking for our family, but we’re determined to make sure he has the dignity and care he deserves.

Thank You from the Bottom of Our Hearts

We are sincerely grateful for every prayer, share, and dollar given. Whether you’re a fellow vet, a former colleague, a family friend, or a kind-hearted stranger—thank you for showing love to a man who has spent his life giving to others.

Please donate if you can, and share this with others. Every act of kindness makes a difference.
