My name is Chris Redden. Along with many others, we are seeking to raise awareness and support for Captain Doug Hancock and his family.
Doug is a 25-year American Airlines pilot and a longtime volunteer with the Allied Pilots Association, the union representing AA pilots. He founded and led the Family Awareness Committee and served as both Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Charlotte crew base. In my role as Chief Pilot and Director of Flight, I had the privilege of seeing firsthand how deeply Doug cared for his fellow pilots. He is the kind of person who would do anything, at any time, to help someone in need.
Now, Doug needs our help.
Doug was recently diagnosed with ALS. As many of you know, there is currently no cure for this devastating disease. He is undergoing an experimental treatment led by Dr. Chadwick Prodromos at the Prodromos Stem Cell Institute. After his first monthly treatment, there are already hopeful signs that the progression of the disease may be slowing.
While this gives us hope, the reality is that these treatments are not covered by insurance. Each month costs approximately $5,000, in addition to travel expenses. There are also other potential treatments being explored that may add to the financial burden.
All funds raised will go directly toward Doug’s medical treatments, related expenses, and continued efforts to fight ALS.
Doug is a fighter. He will never give up.
Please consider supporting Doug and his family during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference.
Thank you for your support, your prayers, and for standing with Doug.
