As Amanda's friend since 2011 and business partner in LoveLiveLocal (along with Jen Villa), I have observed and admired Amanda's truly tireless dedication to Cape Cod's environment, business community, and future sustainability. I have seen her donate to and organize countless local fundraisers - both through her Hyannis-based boutique Shift and personally. I have watched as she navigates the challenges of being a small business owner on Cape Cod, a highly seasonal location, because she is driven by a deep passion for shifting the way consumers think about their purchases, shifting awareness about how our clothing and home goods are made, and shifting our spending to locally owned businesses first. She has mentored new entrepreneurs and championed others who've faced similar challenges.
Through a lawyer, Amanda has communicated with the ownership of other stores that have taken her business' name and has so far been ignored. This GoFundMe is to cover Shift's current legal fees plus a small surplus for some anticipated fees. We hope that the owners of the other business will work with her to resolve this situation - if not, I may be back asking you to consider supporting additional action that could require further funding.
Letters of support for Amanda, owner of the original Shift on Cape Cod, to the owner of the shop doing business as Shift in Mashpee and Chatham are also welcome.
Thank you for supporting local businesss and the people who re-invest in our community day in and day out! Every $5 contribution counts - let's show up for Amanda the way she has shown up for us!
