This is Canela's story as we know it...

Canela was originally found in Riverside. She was owned by a man who wanted a guard dog. When she was too sweet to be aggressive, he bought a male dog and taught him to be aggressive by allowing him to repeatedly attack Canela. The man's own daughter said that if Canela wasn't picked up, she would die. AFLAR (All For Love Animal Rescue) drove a long distance to get Canela, only to find out she had run away. She was found several miles away in an industrial area. The first picture was the moment AFLAR rescued her. You could see in her face she was defeated from years of running for her life every single day. AFLAR got Canela the medical care she needed, and then she was temporarily boarded where AFLAR’S volunteers fell in love with her. Lola's friend Tara, an AfLAR volunteer shared a photo of herself and Canela on social media. The moment Lola saw her, she knew she was her dog. It took three weeks for Canela to come out of her crate. Lola had to carry her outside just to go potty. With patience and love, Canela finally knew she was safe. The photo on the right was taken two weeks ago. Canela now lives her life as a spoiled girl getting so much love , treats, long walks and loving care. Last week Lola found a lump on Canela's leg and a black raised spot on her belly. Sadly, she has both mast cell tumors and melanoma. Canela needs scans, surgery and the lifesaving melanoma vaccine. With this specialty treatment, Canela can live a long and full life. The cost to bring Canela to full health is close to $20,000.
