About a month ago, Canela got very sick. 2 emergency vet visits later, we still had no answers and no improvement. She had clean X-rays, and a pretty normal blood panel. We were told the next step was an ultrasound. After finding a vet who provides this service, we were told that’s not what was needed. After some more testing, we luckily have some answers. Based on the results, everything is being caused by a thyroid issue, which is good news since it is super manageable, and she should be improving with a new medication regimen. It’s been a very stressful and expensive month. All of this has cost us $2000+. We have been lucky to be able to continue tests to get the results we need, but it has put a strain on our financial situation. We will also likely need further check in appointments, which I want to make sure we can afford. Canela is the sweetest girl, and she deserves the best, most comfortable life.
