My name is Alisha, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my daughter Candice and our family. We are residents of Appling and members of BCOG, and I trust God to guide us through every challenge. I also know that if I don’t ask, I may not receive the help we need, so I’m turning to my family, church family, and our community for support during this overwhelming time.
Candice is my 29-year-old middle daughter. She’s funny, sweet, and amazing—someone who brings joy to everyone around her. Despite living with a genetic disorder that has affected her heart since childhood, she continues to smile, love, and be the wonderful person we all know. Recently, Candice’s heart function dropped to just 15%, and she now needs a heart transplant. The journey ahead involves several steps and surgeries, including a special test on March 19th and an ICD surgery on March 20th to remove her life-vest that she wears now. . Through it all, Candice remains strong, taking each day as it comes and keeping her spirits up, even when things are tough.
We have a dedicated team of doctors at Emory, the congenital team that has cared for her since child hood. And now the heart failure team,. However, our monthly income doesn’t stretch far enough to cover the extra expenses that come with these type of medical needs. We need help with lodging, food, gas, and out-of-pocket costs for medicine and co-pays at clinics and hospitals, that we just aren’t able to cover. We have one of many upcoming trips March 18th to march 21st. Every cent given will go directly toward these needs. This is a long journey that we believe will give Candice the best life ahead. If you are able and feel led to give, we would be deeply grateful. Please keep us in your prayers, and thank you for listening to our story. Candice is the laughter and light to all who know her. We understand what this means to us and all who are on such needed care. Wishing all who pray , give and read Candice’s story be Blessed. May God get the glory in all things. Thank you for your kindness.
