Hello everyone and I thank you for being here.
I have known Candace and her family since the early 1990's when we became neighbors. Although Candace and her parents worked long hours, they were the first to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.
They are some of the most kind, loving, and hardworking people I know.
On Tuesday, August 12th 2014, Candace's mother stopped breathing and collapsed into her arms. She suffered acute respiratory failure and was later diagnosed with ALS. For those who aren't familiar, ALS formerly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS causes loss of muscle control.
ALS is a progressive disease and Candace's mom is on a ventilator and quadriplegic. Yet Candace remains dutifully at her mother's side, administering medications, turning, playing music for her and fulfilling her mother's wish to remain at home.
When Candace's father gave the vow to care for his bride in "sickness and in health" he meant it. Up until a series of health problems he is suffering through- he worked tirelessly to provide for all of his Wife's treatments on top of all the day to day expenses.
The various health problems have left Candace's father unable to work and the family without income.
After trying to stay afloat for the last decade the family has run out of options and is reaching out to friends, family, and the community for support.
Any amount is sincerely appreciated and will be used to pay for housing expenses (including a newly discovered leak in the foundation), medications, and will alleviate some of the extreme financial strain the family is experiencing.
Thank you so much for reading.
