Support Cam Ragan’s Determined Road to Recovery

For the past 3 months Cam Ragan and his family have been dealing with one of the toughest challenges life can throw at you. What started out as severe headaches and loss of appetite turned into three months of inpatient treatment. Ultimately, Cam was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis and fungal meningitis. One of the worst symptoms of Cam’s sickness were the several large abscesses in his brain. He had also developed a cyst in a ventricle in his brain. He had surgery on June 3, to correct this He is still on very strong intravenous medications that require continued hospitalization. There is no way to describe the amount of pain (both physically and mentally), and suffering he bas endured. BUT FINALLY, Cam is on the upswing. If you have ever spent time with him you would know how determined he can be when he sets his mind to something, and it is clear that Cam is determined to recover from this.

We write this as Cam’s parents, family, friends, and everyone in between to ask that you consider supporting Cam in his long road to recovery.

Just before Cam got ill he started a new position where he thankfully qualified for medical benefits. Unfortunately, he was not working there long enough to qualify for short term disability or long term disability. As of the posting of this, he has spent 11 weeks and 5 days in the hospital and has been predicted to need up to an additional 6 months off of work for therapy (PT, OT, speech) to become safely independent again.

Cam’s expenses include: his medical costs, his mortgage, utilities, and food. Cam has a great support system in place with his family and friends but as we all know, times like this can cause an undue amount of stress as someone focuses on recovery.
