Hi, I'm Darrell Duane, known as B0LTh and formerly known as Spacious. I am the Source-Keeper for Camp Contact, a theme camp that attends various burns and festivals. Camp Contact attends a number of events each year and offers workshops around Contact Improv, Acro Yoga, Authentic Relating and Ecstatic Dance. On the evening of Sunday, January 31st, in the aftermath of a brutal freeze and the remains of a 10" snowstorm, the Camp Contact Container (a 24' trailer) was on its way to LoveBurn with gear for many camps and Burners heading to the Virginia Key Beach for the annual Love Burn event in Miami, FL. Burners had brought their gear over on Friday night and Saturday morning and loaded it into the container.
While traveling from DC to Richmond, VA, for the Richmond Container Pickup, the trailer broke a U-Bolt that connects the rear axle to the leaf spring in Sumerduck, VA. The towing company required that we empty the trailer and charged us $3,000 for a tow. We rented a one-way U-Haul for $2,800 and unloaded the gear into it on Sunday morning, the 1st. Thanks to Eric (Nemo) and Peter (Sunshine) from Camp Contact, and Scotty from Camp 88,
for coming out on Sunday morning to unload the broken trailer and load up the 26' U-Haul. The trailer was brought to the repair shop, where it was found that the last time it was repaired, a 1/2" U-Bolt was used instead of a 9/16" U-Bolt. All U-Bolts are being replaced with 9/16" U-Bolts.
We find ourselves in a rough spot, with not enough funds to rent a U-Haul for the return trip from Miami to Washington, DC. We need to rent the U-Haul on Monday morning, February 9th. Thank you for any support you can contribute to ensure we get everyone's gear back to DC. We have additional expenses of $1300 to repair the trailer, in addition to the towing and trip down to LoveBurn.
