Hello all, I’m Maria Valletta, President and Founder of Camp Cocoa Animal C.A.R.E. and I’m reaching out with a heavy but hopeful heart.

Camp Cocoa Animal C.A.R.E. has been a safe haven for so many animals (235 dogs now) who have nowhere else to go—dogs who were abandoned, seniors who were overlooked, fearful pups who needed gentle healing, and those who simply needed someone to believe in them. Camp Cocoa has been that place… their soft landing, their second chance, their path to a better life.

But now, our sanctuary building is in urgent need of repair.

Without these critical fixes, our ability to rescue and care for animals is at risk.

And that’s why I’m asking for your help.

Why We Need Your Support

Our main sanctuary building—where we house, rehabilitate, and provide overnight care to animals—has taken significant wear over the years. Weather damage, structural issues, and necessary safety upgrades have pushed us to a breaking point.

Without repairs, we cannot:

Safely house the number of animals who need us

Continue expanding our overnight daycare services (which help fund our rescue efforts)

Grow into rescuing cats and other small animals, a dream we’re ready for but can’t reach without this space

Every day, we receive calls about dogs in need. Every day, we wish we could say yes to them all.

But right now… we simply can’t.

The Truth Is… We’re Desperate

We have dedicated volunteers. We have the passion. We have the animals who desperately need a place to go.

What we don’t have is the funding to repair the building that keeps Camp Cocoa running.

These repairs aren’t cosmetic—they are essential to:

Keep animals warm, safe, and healthy

Provide medical care and rehabilitation

Offer a place for anxious or neglected animals to decompress

Sustain the programs that help us continue rescuing
