Camille has been dealing with Acute Pancreatitis flare ups secondary to Cystic Fibrosis since she was 4 and was diagnosed with Chronic Pancreatitis due to the damage the flare ups caused when she was 9. This has caused severe pain, nausea, and vomiting during flare ups and daily chronic pain. Camille has been hospitalized for this over 30 times, some stays lasting months and requiring feeding tubes and multiple procedures.

Because of this she is undergoing a Total Pancreatectomy with Islet Auto Transplantation (TPIAT) surgery to finally stop her pain and improve her quality of life. Due to the rarity of the surgery she will be having it done at UNC Chapel Hill Transplant Center in North Carolina with Dr. Desai. They will remove Camille’s pancreas, spleen, and gallbladder and reconnect everything through her liver and stomach. Camille will be out of work for 4-6 months and will need to be in Chapel Hills for at least 5 weeks for the surgery. She will then need to travel to NC every 3 months after for a year and then annually for follow up appointments. The recovery will be very long and extensive as it is a major surgery but we are hopeful it will be worth it!

These funds will be used for travel and lodging for the surgery and follow up visits, medical and prescription costs, and to help replace her months of missed income.
