Hi, I'm Danika! Camila is my best friend in the whole world and I want to help support her as she embarks on her latest world-bettering endeavor: donating one of her kidneys. As I am sure many of you are aware, there are very few options for financial support or relief for living kidney donations. Both Bekah and Camila have done as much as they could and in an effort to offer another avenue of support, I am starting a gofundme for them as well! Funds will be go towards living and recovery expenses from surgery*. Knowing them, anything extra will go towards further amplifying their message.
*As of July 2021: all donations made on this page will go towards Camila's living expenses.

Hi, we're Bekah & Camila!
Bekah: In 2016, I was diagnosed with Alport's Syndrome, a genetic kidney disease. 4 months later, I was on dialysis for 8 hours a night (currently I do it for 11 every night)
In 2019, I was connected to the Front Row Foundation o/ and had the best day ever watching Kelly Clarkson's concert from the front row with my mom.
Later that year, Front Row invited me to attend a conference with my best friend, Kim. And afterwards, I met Camila.
Camila: When I was 8, I watched a movie where a teen was wracked with grief after losing a family member to kidney failure. After asking my mom about it (perks of having a nurse as a mom!) I resolved to give one of mine away when I was older.
In college I found out how challenging anonymous kidney donation is in the US and jokingly decided to keep it on standby. Little did I know I'd just happen to be at a conference with Bekah only a few years later.
We're starting this store for 2 reasons:
1) As we got closer to surgery we realized all forms of financial support available benefitted only one of us and that just didn't sit right. Since we're both undergoing major surgery, we believe it's only right to find a way to support each other. Since nothing like that officially exists outside of doing it ourselves, that's what we decided to do.
2) Our hope is that through wearing our message, you'll start a conversation that could save someone else like Bekah. There's currently 100,000 people in the US awaiting a kidney transplant, that's .1% of the population. (Yep, you read that right, .1%). Not to mention, a kidney from a live donor can last 2x as long as a kidney from a deceased donor >> the difference between Bekah needing a new kidney in two decades, rather than 8 years.
