Camila Ruiz, our beloved friend and cornerstone of Houston’s creative community, urgently needs help as she faces unexpected medical expenses from a complex, immediate surgery. Despite her efforts, Camila’s insurance will cover only a portion of the cost, leaving her with a substantial financial burden. To make matters more difficult, she will be unable to work for two to four weeks while she recovers. On top of medical bills, she faces additional costs to board Benny, her cherished dog, and secure essential assistive medical equipment so she can heal safely at home.

Camila’s generosity and talent have enriched many lives. As an alum of the University of Houston Graphic Design department and a former vice president of Houston’s AIGA chapter, her passion for helping others is well known. Many of us have collaborated with her in creative projects at Dearwater Design, BrandExtract, Target Corporation, and countless freelance ventures, all benefitting from her warmth and skill.

Now, Camila needs the support of the community she’s always championed. Medical debt can strike anyone unexpectedly—it’s a harsh reality for many Americans and can leave patients feeling isolated and overwhelmed when they should be focusing on recovery.
