Support Cameron's Urgent Brain Surgery

Hello everyone. My family has encountered some very challenging news recently. On 12/18/24, Cameron was working out and got disoriented and physically ill. I laid him on the ground, and he was very confused and not making a lot of sense. I took him to urgent care, who then advised me we needed to go to the emergency room immediately. The closest ER was St. Mary’s. After some back and forth, they finally ordered a CT scan and found a tumor. St. Mary’s does not have a neurosurgeon on staff, so we had to wait for a bed to open at TMC or Banner hospital. We spent about 24 hours at St. Mary’s, but they did all of the precursor work like MRIs, blood panels, etc. Finally, a bed opened at TMC, so he was transported via ambulance on 12/20/24. There was a neurosurgeon, Dr. Sanan, who took his case. We weren’t able to see Dr. Sanan until about 1:40 pm on 12/20/2024. He went over the scans with us. They don’t believe the tumor is cancerous. They believe it is a meningioma. It is about 4.5 cm, and there is about 9mm of swelling around it. The only area of concern for the surgeon is it looks like the tumor has started to grow into his nasal cavity. The surgeon doesn’t want any surprises when he performs the operation, so he wants an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor to take a biopsy of the tumor so they know exactly what they are dealing with. One issue we have is the timing; with the holidays quickly approaching, many doctors aren’t in the office. Dr. Sanan is calling in some favors to see if someone can see him quickly so they can proceed with treatment. Cameron is stable and at home but understandably does not feel great. He is on steroids and anti-seizure medication until he can have the surgery. The surgery itself should take about 4 hours. He will be in ICU for at least a day, and depending on his progress, they think only a few days in the hospital, then he can recover at home. There is a possibility he may lose his sense of smell in the process. They may use some radiation to cauterize the area so the tumor won’t grow back. They are aiming for his surgery to be in the beginning of January. He will be out of work for a couple of months as this all plays out. Cam is the primary breadwinner for our family. We have 2 young children, ages 5 and 2, who don’t understand what is happening. We are making this GoFundMe to help with medical bills, bills, groceries, and other costs to help our family. Cam needs to get the help he needs and recover without having to rush back to work or stress about the details. That way, the family can face this challenge as a united front and be able to solely focus on his health and well-being. We understand this is a difficult time for everyone, so any amount, shares, or prayers are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time & consideration.
