My name is Cameron Reed and I have the esteemed privilege of serving as a section leader of the Bluecoats for my age-out season. As my life after college begins to take shape, it becomes evermore difficult to afford to do this activity from both a financial aspect and a time aspect. However, I would not be pursuing this opportunity if I didn't think the risk were worth the reward.
I'm currently enrolled at Berklee College of Music pursuing a degree in music production and engineering while also working part-time, averaging 25-30 hours a week to pay for my own living expenses. With the added stress of trying to move apartments over the summer, it's obvious that I would have better footing if I were to not march. However, some unique opportunities have presented themselves that could potentially propel me into the next chapter of my life a great deal. The staff at Bluecoats are a well-connected group of creative minds that work tirelessly in the world of the marching arts year round. My status with the group allows me the opportunity to be seen as a potential colleague in the future rather than just a student. I would be losing a substantial amount of money that could be put towards my future endeavors (wedding, paying off student loans, etc.) as well as some immediate needs (cost of moving and living expenses for when I'm gone). It requires a great deal of faith but I know I would be kicking myself in the side for a while if I willingly passed this up.
TL;DR, if you would like to help me fund my life at home while I take a chance on my career, I would be forever in your debt. Thank you for your time and generosity.
