Support Cameron's Rehabilitation Journey at TIRR
Donation protected
We have created this GoFundMe as we are in need of financial support for Cameron to complete his recovery and rehabilitation at TIRR due to unexpected parking expenses required for us to stay at the facility in Houston.
We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of you who have been praying for us during this challenging time. After spending the last 23 days at University Hospital in San Antonio, where Cameron underwent full spinal reconstructive surgery (details to follow) we are relieved to share that he was transferred yesterday to TIRR Herman Memorial Acute Rehabilitation in Houston. TIRR is a world leader in spinal cord injury rehabilitation, offering specialized care and access to the specialists and therapists he needs to relearn how to use his body post T5-L4 fusion and address his severe autonomic dysreflexia.
Many of you have reached out over the past month, asking how you can support us, and we have now identified a specific need. Upon our arrival, we learned that patients with a vehicle are required to cover a $19 per day parking fee, which adds up to just under $600 per month. Unfortunately, the caseworker and social worker informed us that there are no patient support programs available to assist with this unexpected expense.
Moreover, without adequate financial support to cover parking, there is a risk that Cameron may not be able to complete his rehabilitation at TIRR, which is critical for his recovery.
On Tuesday, we will meet with the rehab team to discuss the timeline for Cameron’s recovery and hopefully identify his anticipated discharge date. Prior to transferring, the doctors at University Hospital advised us to expect a stay of 2 to 4 months.
If you feel moved to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any contributions to help cover the parking cost. We have set a goal based on the anticipated duration of our stay and will adjust it as we learn more. Any additional funds will be used for travel expenses and other medical expenses if not covered by insurance (such as a new wheelchair that is medically necessary to meet his new needs post-surgery).
Thank you for your prayers, texts, and calls. Your support means the world to us!
