Support Cameron's Open Heart Surgery

Donation protected

My son's name is Cameron. He is 6 years old as of July 19. He was born with a VSD, which is a hole between 2 chambers of the heart. His cardiologist had hopes that it would close on its own, but it has not. We have had to take him to cardinal glennon childrens hospital in st louis every 6 months since birth. Dallas heart center has monitored his heart since birth and has presented him to surgeon team several times during this journey. His left ventricle has always become enlarged and went back down but within the past 4 months his right ventricle has become enlarged due to the pressure of the blood flow coming from left ventricle. It is doing damage to his tricuspid valve and putting more pressure on his right atruim. So now, he has to have open heart surgery.

My wife and I both work, but things are tight like they are with many families. I work over the road and do not want to be away from my son during his recovery, nor does my wife. So, we are reaching out to the public for any help that may be given. We will know for sure on monday when his surgery right now the earliest they have to get him in is august 13th so we are doing all we can. Due to complications with the schedule the earliest they can do his surgery has been moved to September 23rd. Cameron will now have his surgery friday august 9th. They have called again and moved camerons surgery to Thursday august 8th bc they want him to be first case of the day. So he has to be there at 5am and surgery will start at 7am and last about 5 hours. I will continue to keep updates on here and thank everyone for the prayers. Please continue to keep him in your prayers. They are saying recovery time with no complications is 6 to 12 weeks for him to be completely healed.

Thank you for any help you can provide and if you cannot donate, please keep my beautiful son in your prayers. The money that you donate will help me and my wife Christina Shannon with bills and expenses while we fully focus on getting are son through this difficult time and to be beside him through the recovery process. To the public, thank you again and God bless.
We will keep everyone updated as we go through this difficult journey and thank you for keeping our son in your thoughts and prayers.
Surgery was a success. They repaired 1 vsd and 1 pfo and repaired his tricuspid valve. He is in icu for 1 to 2 days and regular floor for 3 to 5 days. He is sedated at this point but doctors say he is doing good. Please continue to share his story and prayers. God bless you all.
We have gotten Cameron home and he is doing really good. We r maintaining his pain level and he is on Lasix to help remove any excess fluid from away from his heart. We took him back to see his surgeon for follow up and visit went really well. She said he is doing great. We can't thank everyone enough for the donations and prayers. God truly has been with Cameron and my family. His sternum won't be completely healed for six weeks so any help would be greatly appreciated while we care for our precious son. Please continue to keep him in your prayers and please share our post. Thank you Christina Lawrence shannon.
