This fundraiser has a dual purpose: to help defray the cost of cancer treatment and to educate others on the rise of Young-onset Colorectal Cancer (CRC).
At just 35 years old, Cameron is juggling the typical challenges of medical school while also dealing with the added difficulty of chemotherapy appointments. His story began many months earlier, with symptoms so vague and common that they were quickly brushed aside during initial healthcare visits. Symptoms like low appetite, constipation, and relentless fatigue are easily mistaken for less serious conditions. Yet, as Cameron discovered, these were the telltale signs of Advanced Young-onset Colorectal Cancer (CRC).
As a medical student, Cameron knows too well that early identification and education can save lives. However, the sad reality is that catching Young-onset CRC early is challenging. Many times, colorectal cancer is asymptomatic in young adults. As in Cameron's case, once the symptoms present and appropriate screening occurs, the cancer is already advanced.
Fighting cancer is challenging for both the body and the mind. It also brings unforeseen financial difficulties since insurance and savings often fall short for young adults. If you find it in your heart to help lighten Cameron's financial burden, your support can bridge the insurance gap by covering expenses such as increased medication and additional doctor visits.
Another way to help is by sharing Cameron's story, as it can encourage others to learn about Young-onset CRC symptoms and seek early diagnosis, potentially saving lives. If you or someone you know is under 45 and experiencing the following symptoms: early satiety, diarrhea or constipation, iron deficiency anemia, and/or rectal bleeding, take action and seek medical help! The sooner the diagnosis, the sooner the healing.
How is Cameron coping with his diagnosis? Cameron is known for his sense of humor and quick wit, especially under pressure. While cancer is no laughing matter, Cameron understands that humor and positivity are vital to healing. Here's the takeaway Cameron wants you to know: Health is always the BOTTOM line. Get a scope for hope.
Your help, prayers, positive thoughts, or support are truly appreciated.
