This year has been especially difficult for Hilary and myself. Even though we’re both making incredible strides in our careers, life seems to keep finding a way to make us feel like we’re running in circles.
Last year was my first melanoma diagnosis and removal. The dermatology department at the Omaha VA has been incredible and continues to do frequent scans of my body to monitor for more cancers.
Unfortunately, it popped up again back in July, where I had to take extended leave from work to have surgery and recover. Last month, I had another biopsy that came back stating I had melanoma again. Surgery is planned for the 18th of November. I decided to make life more difficult and broke my elbow on October 26. I’ve been out of work since and have drained my savings before I have even had my surgery to remove my second cancer of the year.
There is never a good time to ask for help, especially with all the events going on right now.
