Hello!
My name is Cameron and I’m a full-time community college student at South Puget Sound Community College with a 3.9 GPA. I’ve received the opportunity to study abroad in Japan this summer through my school.
I have a strong passion for languages. Japanese is one of the few I am learning currently, with the others being Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), Korean, and Vietnamese. I want to do my part in supporting others and amplifying their voices. My work as a barista allows me to engage with customers, and part of my joy is talking to them in their native tongue and engaging with them about cultural events. I’m often met with shock at how I know. What’s most important to me is being able to maintain a space where people not only feel welcome but know that they matter.
I’ve lived in South Carolina all my life. Studying overseas has been my dream since I was in elementary school. I still have the notebooks I’d keep from me learning Mandarin, Japanese, and Spanish in between class assignments. Being able to go on this trip will open up so many doors for me.
All money raised will go to tuition, transportation, and passport fees. Any additional funds will go towards furthering my education. Whether you donate or share, I appreciate you for letting me share part of my story. Thank you so much!
