Firework Accident Left Vet Dad,Husband Permanently Disabled

Donation protected
On October 26th, 2024, my husband Cameron Mathews took our 2 oldest boys to a haunted trail back in our community while I stayed home with our youngest son who is special needs. Just as I finished cooking, I get a call from an unknown number. I answered and a man ended up telling me there had been an accident. As my husband and kids were leaving the haunted trail at the back of the parking lot, our oldest son, Ryan, kicked what he thought was a ball. Our middle son, Caleb, picked it up and realized it wasn't a ball and asked their dad what it was. Cameron figured out it was a firework. Wanting to have more fun with our boys (and after hearing several go off throughout the night) he went to light the wick, thinking someone dropped it and lost it. The moment the wick caught fire, it exploded in his hands, leaving my husband tragically and permanently wounded. Cameron was calling out for help. Thankfully, even though the haunted trail was over with, there were some people there to help and the kids didn't see anything, just heard it. Cameron described it as a mortar mixed with a flashbang, something like out of call of duty. Now my husband is missing the tips of his fingers and half of his thumb on his left hand and his right hand is severely burnt with multiple deep lacerations. Cameron is the type of person where he's always doing something and now he can't. He's a loving father of 3 and he can't even have fun with his sons. He's going to be out of work for several months and his paid time off only lasted until the 1st of November. We're not sure if he needs anymore surgeries or skin grafts. We're not sure how much insurance will cover the medical bills. We're not sure how long Cameron will be off of work for. So thats why I made this gofundme. To help ensure my husband doesn't have one more thing to worry about and to help keep the lights on and the bills paid. Most importantly, his mindset. He has a long journey ahead of him, ahead of us. I've been taking care of him and making sure he's getting what he needs to manage the pain and injuries. Any help would be appreciated, even if it's just a share or a prayer. It sucks this happened right before the holidays. Thank you all and thank you God for allowing my husband to still be here
