Support Cameron Byrne's journey to Central School of Ballet

My name is Cameron Byrne, I'm 17 years old from Newport Co Tipperary, Ireland. Over the past year I have auditioned for several ballet schools in the UK in the hope of continuing my ballet training and to pursue a career in professional dance. I am delighted to share that I have been offered a FD/BA (Hons) Professional Dance and Performance with the Central School of Ballet in London for the next 3 years.

After countless years of commitment and dedicated work I have the chance to make my dream come true. To be offered a place at one of the most prestigious ballet schools has resulted in many hours dancing in studios at my local dance school, The Dance Academy, training and performing with a semi-professional company, The Irish National Youth Ballet in Dublin. I have had the opportunity to perform at high profile venues, including the Helix and Samuel Beckett Theatre, dance as a guest group on RTE's Dancing with the Stars, several workshops and modelling opportunities with Dance World Ireland. At my local dance school I have completed all of my IDTA ballet exams, been nominated for the IDTA awards and have received many awards at the National Dance Championships. Most recently I was offered full scholarship to the Boston Ballet Summer Dance Programme where I spent 6 weeks training to the standard of professional dancers. Like any professional athlete I have sacrificed many family occasions to invest time into my passion and aim to achieve my goal of becoming a professional ballet dancer.

Here in Ireland we do not have colleges that can offer dancers like me what they need to fulfil their potential. This high level of vocational dance training does not exist in Ireland so travelling abroad is the only option. The financial cost of this journey is €35,000 per annum with tuition costs, accommodation in London, medical insurance, uniforms. With the unbelievable support of my parents and dance teachers to pursue my dream I need to get over this final hurdle.
