Camerata Little Rock is a dynamic professional ensemble whose goal is to present the great works of the Baroque and Classical eras in appropriate settings. Its rotating roster of musicians includes members of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and dedicated music educators based in Little Rock and Conway.
For its inaugural concert, Camerata Little Rock will present "Corelli's Legacy," an exciting program of concertos and serenades for strings and percussion by foundational composer and violinist Arcangelo Corelli, his pupil Francesco Geminiani (through a spirited modern re-setting of his "Follia" Variations), Johann Sebastian Bach's seldom heard Triple Violin Concerto, BWV 1064, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's ingenious Serenata Notturna, K. 239 for double orchestra and timpani. The performance will take place on Saturday, October 5th at 7:30 pm, and be enhanced by the wonderful acoustics of the sanctuary at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral (310 W. 17th St.). The concert will last for approximately one hour and the atmosphere will be educational yet informal. A reception will follow the performance.
The musician roster features: Leanne Day-Simpson, Geronimo Oyenard, Lauren Pokorzynski, and Katherine Williamson (violins); Tatiana Kotcherguina and Thomas McDonald (viola); Micah Donar and Joanna Klett (cellos); Sean O'Hara (bass); Colin MacKnight (organ).
While the concert is advertised as free to the public, a fundraising campaign is necessary to cover the musicians' fees, sheet music costs, and facility expenses. Donations and contributions for any amount will be accepted through the event's GoFundMe page, as well as at the welcoming table on the night of the performance. If the campaign successfully exceeds its goal, funds will help ensure additional future performances by the ensemble. Top tier donors will also be rewarded with an intimate house concert performance.
