Cambryane Slemmer brings an unforgettable passion and positivity to everything she does. She pours her heart and soul into raising and caring for her incredible collies. She photographs community events, capturing others' successes and joys through the camera. For many years, she led a creative writing group where the writers' connections endured long after the story-telling had ended. Knowing Cambryane has made my life better. I'm sure many of you who are reading feel the same way.
Someone maliciously poisoned Cambryane's beloved dog, Winter. Cambryane did everything in her power to save Winter. Unfortunately, despite a veterinary team's life-saving efforts, Winter passed away.
Any loss is terrible and impossible to fully describe in words, but I cannot imagine that extra layer on top of her grief - knowing that Winter didn't just die, but was killed. Our hearts ache not only for her, but for her mother, Jennifer, and their other dogs as well.
"Heart dog," "soulmate dog" - some of us have been fortunate enough to experience this remarkable bond during our lives. Winter was Cambryane's best friend, her baby, her pride and joy, her guardian, her inspiration and motivator during tough times... May he rest in peace.
It's burden enough to suffer a nightmarish loss such as this. Funds raised here will be used to pay the significant emergency vet bills which total $3,547. If there end up being additional funds, they can be used to offer a reward for information leading to an arrest.
