Our sweet Cambri needs your help, and a miracle! If you’ve followed her journey this far, you probably already know that she is currently fighting for her life, once again. Here’s her story…
Cambri was born on April 20, 2011, with a life-threatening liver disease called Biliary Atresia. At almost six weeks old, she had a surgery called the Kasai Procedure, which would reroute her liver. Unfortunately, after three months, there was no improvement in her condition, so they deemed the procedure unsuccessful. At that point, the next step would be for her to be placed on the liver transplant list and wait for a new liver to become available.
A little over twelve years ago, on April 11, 2013, Cambri received a new liver from her donor. However, that liver came with many complications and setbacks. Although she has grown up to be the most beautiful, spunky little lady, it hasn’t come easy! She has since endured hundreds upon hundreds of doctor's appointments and hospital stays. She has had more procedures, blood work, and medications than we can count! She has overcome more than most people can fathom and has done it with such strength and grace. She is the true definition of resilience and perseverance!
Over the past few years, Cambri’s health has taken a drastic turn for the worse. Her quality of life is declining rapidly, and her once life-saving liver has become incompatible. She has been back on the transplant list at Dallas Children’s for over 300 days now. She has had so many complications from her first transplant that she will be one of the most difficult cases they’ve ever dealt with. She has been referred to Texas Children’s in Houston to be evaluated to be placed on a second transplant list. They fear that if she doesn’t get this new liver soon, she will become too sick to be able to even receive the second liver that she so desperately needs.
Amanda, Cambri, and Jeremy will be making the trip to Houston on June 8th. The process of the evaluation will continue through June 11th and will consist of over 20 different appointments. It may take up to a few weeks to receive the approval if she is accepted.
We are starting this GoFundMe in hopes to raise enough money to relieve some of the financial burden that they will, and have endured throughout this process. If a donor becomes available in Houston, rather than Dallas, they will have to remain in Houston for over a month after the transplant and then she will be transferred back to Dallas to continue her care closer to home. The time off work is going to be a huge struggle for them, and it’s inevitable that it’s going to be near impossible to make ends meet without help!
Please help them navigate this second chance for a brand new life for Cambri! If you can’t help financially, we would be honored if you’d simply share this with your friends and family. Most of all…please, please send some prayers up for them as they face the trying upcoming days!!!
Thank you for loving and caring for our sweet girl.
