Support Camarines Sur: Rebuild After Typhoon Kristine

Typhoon Kristine: Camarines Sur Underwater, A Call for Help

When Typhoon Kristine roared ashore, no one could have anticipated the flooding that would soon engulf the towns of Camarines Sur in Bicol. Heavy rains poured down in torrents for days, causing rivers to swell beyond their banks, and by the time the storm clouds finally cleared, the towns were unrecognizable. Entire communities now lay submerged under 15 feet of water.

Residents fled to rooftops, clutching their children as they waited for help to arrive. For days, families huddled in the open air, exposed to the elements, with nothing but a thin sheet of metal beneath them and a vast expanse of murky water all around. Makeshift boats, crafted from debris and wooden panels torn from homes, were used to ferry those in the worst-hit areas to higher ground. In some places, families waited anxiously as rescue efforts battled swift currents to reach them.

The floodwater, thick with silt, debris, and broken branches, swallowed up houses, schools, and livelihoods. Streets were transformed into rivers, fields became lakes, and entire villages vanished beneath the muddy water. Livestock drowned, crops were destroyed, and many people lost not only their homes but also their means to make a living.

In Naga City, a bustling hub in Camarines Sur, the floodwaters surged into the marketplace, sweeping away vendors' stalls and scattering goods. Rice, fish, vegetables—all essentials—floated away, devastating the town’s food supply. Schools, churches, and community centers, once places of safety and gathering, now lie underwater, with their precious books, supplies, and furniture lost.

Clean drinking water has become a rare and precious resource, as wells and water lines were contaminated by the flood. Power outages have left families in darkness, cut off from communication and unable to reach out for help.

But amid the tragedy, the spirit of Camarines Sur’s people remains unbroken. Villagers have joined together to share food and supplies, setting up temporary kitchens on patches of dry land. Rescue teams and volunteers have been working around the clock, but the need far outweighs the resources available.

This GoFundMe campaign is a lifeline for Camarines Sur. Your support will go toward essential resources: clean water, food, blankets, and medical aid. We aim to provide safe shelters for displaced families, restore communication lines, and eventually help rebuild homes and schools once the waters recede. Every dollar raised brings a glimmer of hope to those who have lost so much.

Typhoon Kristine has left Camarines Sur with wounds that will take years to heal. Your donation, no matter how small, can provide immediate relief and help families start anew. Stand with us in this effort to bring Camarines Sur back from beneath the water, stronger and more resilient than before. Thank you for being part of the recovery.
