Hello to everyone seeing this. I’m Amanda and this GoFundMe is being set up on behalf of my 19-year-old daughter, Camryn (or Cam, as she prefers). Cam fell down a flight of stairs on November 6, 2024. She was taken to the ER to have her hip and head checked due to the pain she was in. The ER did a CAT scan, which led them to find a 4.5 cm mass on the trigeminal nerve and the vestibular nerve. Later, we learned that it was a trigeminal schwannoma and a vestibular schwannoma. The neurosurgeon compared several MRIs and CAT scans going back to 2017. In 2018, there was a white blip, a micro dot on the screen, which he believes is the start of the tumor. She has been seeing a neurologist for migraines, but in May of 2023, her migraines changed in the way they presented, and also her medication stopped working. We went to the ER where they gave her a CAT scan and told us that she was having cluster migraines, gave her an IV cocktail drip, and two hours later sent us on our way. Now, looking back at the CAT scan from May 2023, the trigeminal schwannoma was present and was 3.3 cm. Over the past 8 years, she has had so many tests, and no one told us about it. It has now grown to a 4.5 cm dumbbell shape, covering two nerves and causing seizures, hearing loss, eyesight problems, numbness in her face on the left side, dizziness, and passing out spells. For those of you that know me, you know I have taken her to every type of doctor, had her on so many medications, and she struggled so much for so many years, always in pain. As you can imagine, not only is she now dealing with the physical and emotional realizations that she’s going to have to have a craniotomy and have the tumor removed on January 20, but she is also realizing that there was medical negligence. Cam made the choice to shave off her curls on her own as it was the only thing about this situation she could control, so rather than have a doctor do it, she went and had it done. This is just a glimpse of what she has been through and nothing compared to the surgery and healing to come. At 3 months post-op, she will have to undergo radiation as well. The expenses have already taken a toll, and we haven’t even gotten to surgery. Cam is not able to work or go to the spring college semester. The doctors are saying 3-6 months to regain normal facial expressions and feeling. We would be grateful for help during this time. We are already living on limited budgets due to my disability. If you feel led to help, please remember that even by sharing her page, her story, sending her words of encouragement, or even just calling her, sending her pics or memes, anything is appreciated. She isn’t able to get out and do much, and we have to keep her germ-free for her surgery to happen. Any monetary donations will go towards a wheelchair recliner, shower aid devices, cold cap therapy hospital and doctor bills, medication, medical testing, physical therapy, and paying household bills and nutrition needed for recovery.
