Hey :)

As it pains me to do this again, I just don’t know where else to turn other than to the community that held us up. Vanessa,Meko and I moved to maple ridge to start our life away from the busyness of Vancouver. Had two well paying careers,and I am part of two well-known unions.

Being the provider for my family was all I knew and I knew how to do it well. We had a decent nest egg and we were off in the right direction. And then Cancer took first and most importantly my wife and Mēko’s mother… secondly, our savings.

I am now starting out , at 54 years old a single parent with no job or savings. I’m terrified but optimistic about it. I’ll have to be part of the system for a little while until I figure out how to live life as a single parent. It will come. I’ll make it come. There is no failing in this but right now I need help.

I just paid out-of-pocket for Vanessa‘s cremation $2000… I’m also trying to get to Manitoba for her family’s celebration of life for Vanessa and more than likely move back to East Vancouver to regroup … I feel I have the most community there… like I said, I’ll figure out how to navigate life as a single parent… He starts kindergarten this year and very much looking forward to moving on from this horrendous last year. We look forward to honouring Vanessa and remembering all the good things that she brought us in this last six years.
