Calvin Owens is a 4-year-old boy who has spent a good part of his life in the hospital. Last year, he was in the hospital for 144 days between Children's Mercy in Kansas City and then airlifted to Cincinnati Children's Hospital. He was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis at that time.

When he came home last year, he continued to have health issues but had relearned how to walk and wore a brace at all times for his back, which has back fractures he has been living with. He has thrived and done well being a normal kid and has impressed everyone with his strong will.

This June, he went to Kansas City for an outpatient doctor's appointment and ended up getting admitted to the hospital and later airlifted back to Cincinnati Children's Hospital where he is currently getting treatments before an upcoming bone marrow transplant. He is very blessed that he has a sibling that is a 100% match.

Right now, his diagnoses that he's being treated for are JIA, along with Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis, generalized weakness, hypoxia, interstitial lung disease, premature ventricular contraction, along with other diagnoses.

Kayla (mom) is currently in Cincinnati with Calvin, while Dad and siblings are home. Calvin will be having chemo in the coming weeks before the transplant and become extremely ill and weak before he gets better. After the transplant, he will continue to be in the hospital long term and then move to the Ronald McDonald House for several more weeks or months for continued appointments and treatments. Family and friends have been amazing, continuing to support, lift up in prayer, and send encouraging words. There will be expenses that come up for Mom, and eventually for Dad as well as he travels to be with his family when he is allowed to be around them again. There will be updates posted as treatment proceeds and how Calvin is doing. If anyone is looking to donate, consideration would be much appreciated.
