Support Calvin Conn's Healing and Care

My name is Kathryn Crowe, and for those that may not know my dad, Calvin Conn, was in a terrible vehicle accident early Saturday morning, January 11th, on his way home from work. By the grace of God he is still alive, but sustained several serious injuries. He was taken to UAB hospital where he has been in the Trauma ICU ever since. They found a small brain bleed that should resolve on its own, several fractures including his jaw, right ankle, left tibia, cervical fracture in his neck, fractured clavicle, fractured finger, and six fractured ribs. Three of the fractures have required surgery, the right ankle (1/12) and both jaws (1/14). The operations went as well as can be expected although he has required medical intervention to maintain his blood pressure which the doctors believe is due to the anesthesia. He will hopefully move into a regular room in the next couple of days. He is requiring eternal nutrition via NG tube (feeding tube through the nose) as his jaw is wired shut for a minimum of two weeks. He will be non-weight bearing on his right leg for the foreseeable future as those fractures heal, requiring a wheel chair.

My mom, Kim Conn, hasn’t left his side since the accident spending all day and night with him in the ICU with minimal breaks in between when he has other visitors. He will require round the clock care once he returns home.

If you know my parents you know they are extremely hardworking and go above and beyond to provide for our large family and they always step up when their loved ones need them. The road to recovery will be long and hard — physically, mentally, and financially with my dad being the main source of income. The thought of being out of work has already caused great strain to their household.
