Help Calliope’s Tattooing Move Forward

Hi.

My name is Rebecca “Calliope” Rankin and I would like to go to tattoo school. I am currently unable to work my regular job as a deckhand in the maritime industry as I await dual carpal tunnel surgery and I live in the state of Oregon. In Oregon,apparently, you have to go to tattoo school to become a licensed tattoo artist and that school costs $10,175. Tuition cannot be paid with a credit card and there are no scholarship opportunities that I have found thus far. I have exhausted my personal resources for this type of cash so I’m asking for help.

Captain Jack’s Tattoo School can take up to six months and would give me a standardized experience that I have never had, working as a solely self and my mom-taught artist. I believe I could be very successful as a licensed tattoo artist and think my talent is worthy of the investment. The school is excited about having me as a student (potentially because they get paid 10K) and they are willing to work with/around my surgery and maritime work schedule. The funds go directly toward what the tattoo school requires to operate, supplies and equipment. I have been offered a paid apprenticeship at a very reputable, local shop post completion of school.

If you would like to see me tattooing again, and have the financial flexibility, please consider supporting me. Barring absolutely uncontrollable events, I won’t let you down. 

Additionally, I will keep track of your donations and whatever amount you are able to contribute will (once this all works out) work as credit toward future tattoos with me!

this is all very awkward for me. I am not sure if asking for money to help me towards this goal is cyber spanging, but I do believe this is an achievable and personally meaningful goal, and also that, at this time, I could use some help. I always felt like telling people’s stories with my art is something I am gifted at and I would like to use that gift more professionally.
