At the 20-week ultrasound for our twins, my husband and I received the news no new parents wants to hear, “one of your children has a congenital heart defect and will need open heart surgery shortly after birth”. After several more tests it was confirmed that Calliope had Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and Major Aortopulmonary Collateral Arteries (MAPCAs). Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is a condition that affects the heart’s ability to pump oxygenated blood throughout the body, and it requires ongoing medical care, surgeries, and monitoring.
Even though she has already faced so much more than any child should have to endure at just 8 weeks old, Calliope continues to show everyone how to live life to the fullest. Her smiles, giggles and diva-like attitude remind her father and I how truly precious life is.
While we are deeply grateful for the incredible care Calliope has received, the costs of ongoing medical treatments, hospital visits, and surgeries are overwhelming. As Calliope comes up on the first of several open-heart surgeries, we need your help to make sure she receives the best care possible.
The funds raised will be used for:
• Life-saving surgeries and medical procedures
• Hospital and specialist visits
• Medications and therapies
• Travel and accommodation for out-of-town medical care
• Ongoing care and future treatments
As parents, we want to give Calliope the chance to live a full, healthy life, but we can't do it alone. We are asking for your support—whether it's through a donation, a prayer, or by sharing Calliope's story with others. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to giving Calliope the future she deserves.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and love during this challenging time. We are so grateful for your support.
With heartfelt thanks,
Denissa & Stephan DeVarie aka Mom & Dad
