Help us continue to support Callie
At the end of January 2026, we were told that our precious Callie had serious kidney disease and needed to be admitted to an emergency vet for several days to be stabilized and she likely had one week to live. The entire process was so heartbreaking. But instead of giving up, we did everything to give her a fighting chance.. and Callie kept fighting. We would take her in weekly for bloodwork and monitoring, and what I could only call a miracle, she began to improve. We saw her kidneys show improvement with at-home treatment that included IV fluids, meds, and a lot of love (literally baby bird feeding this girl). We felt relief for the first time after a month had passed and she was still fighting strong.
But in February, we finally saw a specialist who confirmed that the real issue was obstructions in both kidneys. By that point, we were told surgery was necessary due to significant damage to both kidneys and that the home treatments were only stabilizing her instead of actually stopping the damage itself. They told us it would be 2 hour drive and the surgery needed to happen ASAP. Hearing this was so, so incredibly frustrating, especially after she had already been fighting for an entire month and that it took a specialist to finally confirm this. Callie underwent SUB (Subcutaneous Ureteral Bypass) surgery on both kidneys on February 19th. The surgeries were successful, and she is now home and recovering.
As much as we tried to avoid doing something like this, now that the emergency itself is FINALLY over, the cost of surgery on top of it all became really overwhelming. Any donation, share, or kind message means so much to us as we try to share her story. Thank you for reading this far and I will update with Callie improvements and photos as we get through this chapter.
