Support Cali's Healing Journey

Hello everyone,
On May 5th, 2025 our adored Cali was hit by a truck, leaving her with a full leg cast, open wounds to the bone, and trauma from the event. She underwent surgery to aid in her significant leg injury, resulting in both internal and external casts, a multitude of medication, and daily trips to the hospital for the complex bandage changes. As of right now, a prosthesis is holding together parts of her leg, as the other parts have extensive nerve damage causing it to be limp.
While those around Cali are fortunate for her immediate and tentative care in the hospital, the emotional and financial burden this has caused her owners is immense.
Her owners, Kristen and Shane, are two of the most selfless people anyone has the privilege of meeting. They are small business owners of a mental health facility, parents of a toddler, devoted family members, and advocates for animal rights and safety (just to name a few of their many "hats").
They have 4 other animals whom they rescued; 2 birds, and 2 bunnies, not including the fish and turtle tanks in their mental health facilities.
Even though they have many responsibilities, they always make time to support others, both humans and animals. Shane volunteers weekly at the RI Wildlife Clinic, rescuing and providing treatment to wildlife animals.
Cali has been by Kristen and Shane's side for the past 8 years, offering companionship in all their endeavors. Cali was rescued by Kristen and Shane as a puppy and has been with them ever since. She underwent an extensive and costly hip surgery within the past few years which came at a great financial sacrifice to Kristen and Shane of which they are still recovering. The surgery was successful and Cali has showed non-stop resilience since until this tragedy.
She loves going on walks, visiting the beach at Outer Banks, belly rubs, and spending time with her mom, dad, and (human) baby brother.
The growing medical bills since the accident have impacted Kristen and Shane, and will be reoccurring during her healing journey. While donating to support Cali's medical expenses is not expected, any amount or sharing would be greatly appreciated and helpful.
Thank you for your effort in offering support to Kristen, Shane, and Cali during this difficult time.
