On Saturday December 20th, my 9 year old nephew Caleb was involved in a serious Kubota RTV accident at a local Shepparton property. He was one of 8 kids/teenagers on the vehicle when it flipped and crushed him. It took the medical team over 5 hours to stabilise him enough to be able to fly to the Royal Children’s Hospital where he was immediately taken into surgery.
He has sustained 6 broken ribs, 6 spinal fractures, a collapsed lung, a shattered spleen, a hole in his liver and kidney, internal bleeding, torn diaphragm and many other injuries. He has already had 4 surgeries with more to come.
At present, Caleb has 2 drain tubes in his kidney and one in his stomach. Doctors have attempted twice to place a stent, but both attempts were unsuccessful. The medical team has advised that another surgery will be required next week, with further discussions planned once they reassess his condition.
This fundraiser has been created to help support Caleb and his family through this incredibly difficult time, to ease the financial strain of medical care, ongoing treatment, travel, and the long recovery ahead, and to allow his loved ones to focus fully on being by his side.
Any contribution, no matter how small, or even sharing this page, means more than words can express.
Thank you for supporting Caleb on his road to recovery.
