I started this GoFundMe for a fellow concrete artisan and very good friend, Caleb Lawson, who has suffered a massive blow to his business in Canton, North Carolina.
Early Friday morning, the Pigeon River rose substantially to a record-setting height of around 25 feet above what it's supposed to be. Calebs shop is 450 feet from the bank of the river. Unfortunately, I have not been able to reach Caleb in the last 24 hours. I have seen some news articles coming from the Canton/Asheville area showing the damage and devastation to the area and can only assume the water level reached the ceiling in his shop. This means all of his ongoing projects, materials, and equipment are destroyed. This is how Caleb feeds and supports his family of 5.
I know money is tight right now for a lot of people, but if anyone could donate whatever they can manage to get him back on his feet and his business up and running, it would be greatly appreciated.
UPDATE: I heard from Caleb. Everyone is safe but his shop is destroyed. The water went all the way up to the ceiling. There’s no insurance on this. His CNC machine is destroyed. I think most of his tools are destroyed or damaged. He will not be staying in this location.
