Support Calcifer's Hospital Treatment

Hey all.

Our 2-year-old cat, Calcifer, has been hospitalized due to having a blockage in his urinary tract. He started feeling sick earlier this week, and we spent a long night at the emergency vet before he was officially hospitalized. He has to get treatment and remain in the hospital for a period in order to get the help he needs, and we’re asking for support in covering the bills. It feels vulnerable to ask for support with this, but we would do whatever we need to make sure he gets the care he needs. After he’s discharged, he’ll need to remain on prescription food for the rest of his life, and we will have to monitor him to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

We adopted Calcifer when he was 6 months old from a rescue in Silverton, Oregon. He was a street kitty, and it took them a long time to catch him because of how fast he is. But they did, and when we saw him, we knew he was a part of our family. He was nervous and shy at first, but since then we have seen him grow and open up, and he is now the sweetest, most cuddly boy.

Calcifer greets you when you walk in the door with cuddles and chirps and always knows how to make you feel better. He loves to play with his sister, Ahri, often starting wrestling play that shakes the whole house! You’ll find him with her, cuddled in a lap, or laying in his window perch keeping an eye on the neighborhood.

We are now hoping that we can show him the support and care that he shows us every day, by getting him the treatment he needs, while in the hospital, and after. Asking for help feels vulnerable and nerve-wracking, but we’d do anything for our guy.

Currently his hospital bills cost approximately 3,200, and the remainder will go to his prescriptions and food. If you're not in a place to do that, we completely understand.
