Support Cal Poly Pomona's Solar Boat Team

Hi! We are Cal Poly Pomona's only renewable energy based automotive competition team, Solar Boat. Our main objective is to build a solar powered boat that competes in races such as sprints, endurance, and manueverability races. The boat itself has to be hold a human and run fully off solar energy. We are raising funds in order to be able to afford materials needed to build the boat, as well as be able to travel to competitions in May and June. Our team has not been able to go to competition since the pandemic and being able to return to competition is a major goal of this team. Any donations are greatly appreciated and will go directly into enhancing the learning experience and understanding of our members.

Registration for the competitions themselves total to $2000, and since one of the competitions takes place in Ohio and we are located in southern California, we would need at least another $5000 to cover the transportation of our boat. Since this is the first year we are hoping to compete, we also need to procure materials to build our boat from scratch. We plan to make our boat out of carbon fiber and also need to buy lumber to create the strongback (a mold for the carbon fiber to lay).
