Hi, my name is Caitlin, and I’m reaching out with everything I’ve got left in me.

After surviving six years of homelessness—six years of painting art to sell, mowing lawns, doing anything I could to stay afloat—I finally started to rebuild my life. I now have a stable job, a home filled with love from my pets, and the drive to keep moving forward.

But the place I’m living in now is making that nearly impossible.

There’s mold in the walls, no heat in the winter, no A/C in the summer, and just one window that doesn’t even open. Pests are everywhere because of unaddressed issues in the building. Management does nothing. My physical and mental health are suffering. It feels like this place is slowly killing me—and no one should have to feel that way in their own home.

But now, I have a chance. A safe, clean duplex has opened up, and it’s everything I need:

To get this home, I had to give a 30-day notice at my current place—that’s the only way I could qualify for a travel voucher that helps cover part of my move. But now I’m on a clock. I need to raise $1,000 as soon as possible to cover the security deposit and moving costs. That’s the only thing standing between me and a safe new beginning.
