Support Caitlin's London Study Abroad

Hey all!

My name is Caitlin Burke and I am a sophomore at Asbury University majoring in Equine Studies with a concentration in Equine Training. I have an amazing opportunity this coming spring to travel to London, England on a study abroad program for two weeks. We will spend twelve days immersing ourselves in the diverse culture of London, visiting famous landmarks including Hyde Park, the West End Theater District, WWI and WWII bombing sites, the War Rooms used by Churchill and other war memorials, local communities of many different cultures, and getting to spend two days studying at the University of Oxford.

London is the most culturally diverse city in the world, and we will spend our time immersing ourselves in numerous different cultures, learning their customs, their language, and eating their food. We will travel and visit popular tourist sites such as Westminster, Notre Dame, and the London Bridge, but we will also visit local churches and cathedrals, attend various local services, go for lunch at local cafes, and shop at the local street shops and diverse markets in the different cultural areas spread all over London. We will also have the opportunity to attend plays at the West End Theater District, one of the best theater districts in the world.

The purpose of this study abroad is to use London as our classroom, exploring one of the most diverse cities in the world, settled by the ancient Romans, with cultures from all over the world and over 300 languages spoken. Through this immersion, I will get a full educational experience of one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world and learn more about how to interact with and understand the societies and cultures we are surrounded by through our exploration of the many sites and memorials, local markets, cafes, churches, and locals.

I am fundraising to cover the costs of this incredible study abroad opportunity. This experience will greatly enhance my education and understanding of diverse cultures, which will benefit my continual liberal arts education and give me lifelong skills on how to understand and interact with different cultures while also getting to experience the wonderful and diverse city of London and Oxford. I greatly appreciate anything you guys can donate. Anything at all helps me out a great deal and even a small amount goes a long way.
