If you live on Cain’s route, you already know the kind of person he is. He’s not just our mail carrier — he’s someone who looks out for people, remembers faces, and quietly helps without making a big deal about it. Back on February 3rd, Cain was in a serious wreck that turned his world upside down. He suffered a traumatic brain injury along with damage to his neck and back leaving him with constant migraines. Recovery hasn't been quick or easy. He went through six weeks of treatment three times a day, followed by almost seven months of physical therapy just to get back to feeling somewhat normal (which honestly isn't normal at all). After eight months, Cain was finally able to return to work on October 4th. Unfortunately, on November 26th, he twisted his knee and sustained yet another injury causing him to be out until at least January 24th. Cain’s paycheck is what his household depends on. His fiancé and her son rely on his income, and right now they’re trying to make it work on one paycheck — and it just isn’t enough. They also have two dogs who are part of their family and still need to be cared for. The wreck also totaled Cain’s Jeep Gladiator, which he was halfway paid off. He had to start over with a new truck, adding even more financial stress during an already difficult time. What makes this harder is knowing the kind of guy Cain is. Even while dealing with all of this, he still goes out of his way for people. When a neighbor on McCown Road moved in and didn’t have a mailbox set up yet, Cain made sure her Amazon packages got back to her anyway. That’s just who he is. Especially during the Christmas season, this feels like an opportunity to show up for someone who has quietly shown up for so many others. Your generosity helps lift a burden and reminds Cain that he’s not alone. Many people on the route have already shown him kindness — water on hot days, snacks, gift cards, lunch money, and even homemade cookies. Those gestures mean more than you know. This GoFundMe is just a way for all of us to help in a bigger way while Cain heals and gets back on his feet. If Cain has ever helped you, looked out for you, or simply been a bright spot in your day, please consider donating or sharing. Anything helps, and every bit is appreciated more than we can say. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for supporting someone who has spent years supporting our neighborhood.
