Lindsay and I are organizing this fundraiser in support of Cailin and Terese Joyce. Both Cailin & Terese are highly active parishioner's of St Barnabas and embedded in the life of the school and parish. Cailin a long time member of the Lifeteen program and Terese the cafeteria QUEEN and PSR and Confirmation leader!

I visited Cailin in the hospital yesterday and it absolutely broke my heart to see her suffer to the extent that she has been and still is. After my visit, the Holy Spirit told my twin and I to establish this fundraiser on her behalf.

Over the past 8 weeks, Cailin has undergone extensive monitoring, testing and treatment at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. Cailin has been diagnosed with a rare blood disorder caused by EBV, the mononucleosis virus. Due to the nature of the treatment, it has left her immune system compromised, her organs with extreme inflammation resulting in her body retaining a ton of fluid. This has brought many additional challenges.

Unfortunately, Cailin has moved into the hospital (not by choice). Her mother, Terese, has been by her side every step of the way. During this time, Terese has rotated between living in a hotel and living out of the hospital room. As you can imagine, not only are medical bills starting to pile up, so is the cost of living away from home and taking time away from work to be with a sick teen. Think about it, eventually PTO runs out.

Cailin has been contained to 4 tiny walls in a hospital room for many weeks now as doctors try to understand more about her rare condition. This has come with daily blood draws, blood transfusions, bone marrow tests and so many more treatments that I can’t even remember the names of! Nurses check on Cailin every 3-4 hours which means getting a good solid sleep is almost impossible to do! There is no timeline for how long she will be in the hospital for.

Cailin is unable to do simple tasks that many healthy individuals take for granted. Things such as hugging people, going outside, taking a hot shower and being around people are all tasks Cailin cannot partake in. She fatigues quickly making it hard for her to walk short distances. Things like living in the dorms, dining in dining halls, going to OSU football games, going to in person classes, going to Mass the the Newman Center and even dancing are all things she hasn’t been able to do. For as much as she is suffering, she remains strong through the help of Jesus Christ.

First and foremost, above anything, I am asking you for your prayers. Prayers for healing and strength over Cailin and her family! Second, prayerfully consider making a donation, 100% of funds raised go to support Cailin and Terese during this time. No donation is too small! Please give any amount that you can if you are able!

In the name of Jesus, I pray for divine healing over Cailin. I ask you Lord to send your Holy Spirit over Cailin and restore her body to full health. Restore every blood cell in her body to function optimally as you have intended for it to. I pray that anything that is not of you Lord be removed from her body and taken to the foot of your Cross for you to deal with. Amen!
